Celebration of Women's Motorcycling

The Australian Riders' Division of Motorcycling Australia, is pleased to announce the first ever Celebration of Women's Motorcycling (CWM) Rally.

Scheduled for the 2012 Australia Day long weekend held over 27-29 January, female riders are invited to attend this event to be held at picturesque Yackandandah in Victoria's north - and celebrate the contribution of women to Australia's motorcycle riding history.

From motorcycle competition to pioneering adventures, from outback touring to sheep mustering, women have been part of the rich tapestry of motorcycling for as long as motorcycles have been in use.

This event aims to recognise these contributions and achievements by providing an opportunity to get together for no other reason than simple pride and a passion for motorcycles.

Despite being a female event, it is not limited to women only - partners and supporters are encouraged to show their support by coming along for the ride.

It is anticipated that this event will be well subscribed, so attendees are encouraged to book their accommodation in the area as early as possible.

There are many great places to stay in the town and surrounding area - and in the event the hotels, motels and B&Bs book out, the town of Beechworth is only a short ride away.

For riders wishing to explore, there will be long and short rides through the stunning local countryside leaving on the morning of 28 January. For those who would rather kick back and get rid of the road grime, a 'Show and Shine' competition will be held during the afternoon of 28 January as well as a longest ride award.

Prizes will be handed out by the guest of honour, Lois Stivens, at the spit roast dinner to be held at the welcoming Yackandandah Hotel in the evening from 7:00pm on 28 January.

The spit roast dinner will be only $25 a head with a first come first served system in place – so make sure you're on time! To mark the event, we're looking for pictures to include in the first ever CWM picture book.

All attendees are asked to submit in advance, or bring to the event one or more motorcycle photographs of themselves, their mothers, daughters, grandmothers, friends or just women on motorcycles for inclusion (just keep it clean folks!).

A name or short history with each picture would be a great help - to submit in advance, please send scans to the email address shown below or send copies to our mailing address. If there are enough pics, these books will be made available for sale at a later date, with the proceeds going to the Pink Ribbon Foundation. Please make sure that original photos come with permission to use the image and an address, so we can return them after use.

A registration cost of $10 will be payable in advance which will be used to cover the book production costs.
